They also specialise in other online marketing services for advertisers such as search engine marketing and lead generation. The company has been in existence since 1996, and has advertisers which include Avon, Napster, British Airways, Lego and House of Fraser.

Tell me more about them

When you sign up, you can choose to promote Advertisers from either or all or the UK, US and Canada. So if you only want to promote UK sites, you can easily filter the other sites out. All the advertisers manually approve sites, there are no automatic approvals. Therefore, you will need to wait a little while after applying until your site is approved.

The available advertisers are sorted into a number of categories, and you can either browse by a particular category relevant to your site, or search for an advertiser using the "Advertiser Search" feature.

Affiliate Options

Once you have been approved by an advertiser, their links will be made available to you. You can in general choose from a range of text links and banners, or set up your own deep links to individual pages if you would like to. Some of the merchants also offer rotating banners or "Storefronts", where you can paste some code into your site and feature a range of products that are automatically updated.

Datafeeds are also available to those affiliates who can feature a database of products that is updated daily, such as shopping comparison sites. You need to apply separately for access to the datafeeds, and you will also need to have been with LinkShare for three months and have generated at least 50 sales in the most recent month.

Lead Advantage

LinkShare also offer the Lead Advantage Network, which enables publishers to high commission programs not available in the rest of the LinkShare network. You will be paid for providing leads and new customers to companies, as opposed to direct sales. For example, if you are promoting a company selling conservatories, you could be rewarded with a commission every time a prospective customer applies to receive a catalogue.

In the Lead Advantage network, you do not need to establish a direct relationship with an advertiser, nor wait for approval. You just select the offers that you want to place on your website.

How is payment made?

Payment to UK affiliates is made by International Direct Deposit, and up to four payments a month can be made.
